The ramblings of a would-be environmentalist and closet tree-hugger. The site is mainly about the world I see around me and the steps I went through to produce my undergraduate dissertation, but also includes other articles that I have written in a separate section (creatively titled ‘other blog pieces’).
As a mature student at the University of Brighton, I felt blessed to have finally (and yes it did take a very long time!) found something I would happily spend the rest of my life doing. Or so I thought. Learning about the ocean planet we live on is fascinating, and if I can help in a tiny little way to help understand and protect it, then I will be a happy man.
Upon graduating from the University of Brighton with a First, I thought acadamea was the path for me, but after months of searching for the right Ph.D. project I started to feel as though the options open for a very mature student were limited. So in the interim, I joined the team at Rampion Offshore Windfarm based in Brighton in their social outreach team. This developed into a personal promotion within the team to the Operations and Maintenance team at Newhaven where I now work.
Being involved daily in the renewable energy industry and particularly the offshore wind industry is amazing and something I thoroughly enjoy. Whilst working full time I also continue to write and develop my skills.
Enjoy, and any feedback is gratefully received.
Steve
